Message from EHF President, Martin Gotheridge

On 21st August 2009, at the 21st EHF General Assembly you elected me as your President. It is a huge honour for me to take on this Presidency and be assured that I am at your disposal should you wish to contact me.
I am delighted that we have a two new vice-presidents in Marijke Fleuren (NED) and Jorge Alcover (ESP) along with a newly elected and extremely enthusiastic Executive Board. During the next few months in the e-zine we will introduce you to the Board members, so that you can get to know them better.
We have had a fantastic summer of hockey!
We started in July with the EuroHockey Under 18 Nations Championships, Trophies and Challenges. Belgium won the Men's with The Netherlands winning the Women's.
August was a month of back-to-back EuroHockey Nations Championships, Trophies and Challeneges for the senior players. England came out on top of the men's competition following a consistent performance culminating in beating Germany 5-3 in the final. On the women's side, The Netherlands was the well deserved winner, blazing a trail to the final and then beating Germany 3-2 in the final.
Apart from the top nations hockey, we have had many hockey camps, in Denmark, Bulgaria and Spain. Also the members in the South East/Balkan area met together to discuss ideas and challenges in this area (read more).
So, another season of hockey starts with a full programme and very exciting times ahead with a new Club tournament for women.
We will keep you updated via our website and e-zine.
